During our 2013 rookie season, we were awarded the Rookie All-Star award at the Greater Kansas City Regional which qualified us for the FIRST ® World Championships. FIRST ® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is one of the largest and most challenging robotics competition in the world. ![]() Students on Team SCREAM work together to design and build robots to compete in the FIRST ® Robotics competition (FRC). We accomplish this by giving students a valuable experience working alongside mentors from local industries, gaining leadership and management skills, and developing them both as students and as members of their community. What started with only a handful of students has grown into an exciting program that is inspiring students to pursue careers in field of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Over the past six years, we have experienced a lot of success and have seen tremendous growth. The team was started in the fall of 2011 by coach and engineering teacher, Michael Wright. As a robotics team, we strive to teach the fundamentals and importance of teamwork while also providing the resources and opportunities to gain skills and appreciation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Team SCREAM (Smith-Cotton Robotics, Engineering, and Mathematics) is a competitive robotics team from Smith-Cotton High School in Sedalia, MO.
